Creative Minds!

Kia Ora Te Pihinga Kids!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow we will be busy 'creating' and would love it if you could bring some boxes from home to use for your challenge.

We also have Harold coming to visit this week - he is going to be sharing with us all about having healthy brains and making good choices when our emotions are confusing to us.

Can we all please remember to bring our bucket hats tomorrow .... can it really be the first day that we ALL remember them?

See you all tomorrow!

Hi my name is Megan Vickers
I am a second-year Primary school Education student from the University of Waikato. I am at Frankley for the next six weeks for my placement. I am 19 years old and have grown up in Taranaki my whole life.

I am enjoying studying Primary Education and all the challenges that come with it. I chose dance and drama as my option papers as that is what I enjoy and what I am interested in teaching in my classroom in the future.

Outside of study, I enjoy swimming, reading and cooking. I have also done dance and Karate most of my life and completed exams in both areas.

I look forward to working with all the students in Te Pihinga over the next six weeks.

Sunny Scooter Skills

What a super sunny day we had in Te Pihinga!

This morning we had scooter skills and what a lot of fun we had.
Key Messages we learnt were to

  • Look our for sneaky driveways
  • Use our brakes when we are not going to fast
  • We can use our feet to help us stop if we are going fast.
  • Always wear a correctly fitted helmet and toe covering shoes when we scooter.

Welcome to Term 3!

Welcome to Term 3!

We have a wonderful term ahead of us.
Just a few reminders for you all at home.

Spelling: Your children will bring home a list on Monday with highlighted words. These are the words we would like for them to be practising at home.  This can be practised on a spelling app on a device, with chalk outside on the driveway or good old pen and paper repetitive writing. They will choose 5 of these words per week to bring home in their notebook.  We have seen significant progress from our Te Pihinga kids in this area and learning at home as well as school really has an impact.
Reading:  Some children in Te Pihinga bring home daily readers.  Some children are encouraged to choose their own chapter book from our library sessions on Thursday to take home to read.  We always have books available in class for your child to take home.  We would love for our Te Pihinga kids to read for at least 20 minutes each evening.

We are very excited to extend a warm welcome to our Principal Mrs Sarah Morris, hopefully, many of you can make it to our community powhiri tomorrow.

Maths:  We know a lot of you like to help out with your childrens math learning at home.  Often parents have very high expectations of what their children should actually be learning, please take the time to read the charts below to see what your child is currently working on.

We are really looking forward to what Term 3 has to offer our tamariki in Te Pihinga.  Please make sure to send us an email or pop in to see us with any queries.

Celebrating Puanga

Hello to our Te Pihinga Families,

As part of our whole school Puanga Celebrations on Wednesday, we are having a shared lunch. This is happening in every hub, and students will be bringing food to share with their hub, and eating in their own hub.

Could you please send your child with a plate of 'lunch' food to share. You are welcome to join us, lunch will be at 12:50 as per usual.
Puanga activities will run all day - There is a notice about this on our facebook page, in our school newsletter and families were emailed.

Ngā Mihi,
Wendy and Bonnie

They were a sellout!

Congratulations to Mia, Leticia and Bella.
For their Wildly Important Topic, they decided to make a toy that would 'Entertain' and created their very own animal colouring in book!
Lots of hard work went into this from choosing the designs they wanted to create, to drawing the pictures for the book,  to putting the books together in a binder using a special binding machine.
All proceeds are going to the SPCA.
Great Job Ladies!
